BIO

Hi, I'm Reese. I grew up and still primarily live in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.   I am a Milwaukee School of Engineering student pursuing a B.S. in User Experience. I chose to pursue a degree in UX because it is an emerging field that allows me to be creative while having a positive impact. I am passionate about research and design, dedicated to creating experiences that prioritize accessibility for all users, especially those with limitations.

I aspire to work to improve accessibility in the entertainment industry for individuals with disabilities. I aim to work for a company I am passionate about. I approach problem-solving by implementing design thinking strategies and user research with testing. What sets me apart from other UX designers is my affinity for games, modeling, and video editing. I enjoy using Adobe products and Figma, and I have a particular affection for Premiere Pro and Blender. I stay updated with the latest trends through podcasts, articles, and keeping up with geopolitical news and advancements in technology that affect UX-adjacent industries, with a focus on tech industry trends.

Design Philosophy

I believe good UX design is grounded in accessibility, inclusivity, and user-centered research.  A well-designed user experience should be intuitive, engaging, and adaptable to its diverse user base. By prioritizing these principles, we can create products that address users' needs while simultaneously delighting them. My approach to design is based on empathy and understanding. I strive to understand the world from others' perspectives, recognizing their unique values and desires.  My mindset compels me to conduct thorough user research, ensuring each design decision is informed by real user needs and technical proficiency. For example, in my chatbot prototype project for prospective MSOE students, I focused on the needs of international applicants, advocating for multilingual support and accessibility features.

Balancing creativity, user needs, and ethical considerations is central to my design process. Creativity empowers me to explore innovative solutions and unconventional designs. My creative skills are sharpened by research, guided by design principles, and unhampered by a fear of failure. I am eager to learn more, gain new perspectives, and address emerging problems. I believe my profession gives me a unique opportunity to assist others by creating intuitive and ethical solutions that consider the ethical implications of design choices, such as privacy, inclusivity, and accessibility.
